A Major Grid Infrastructure Fire in Paris

Paris Southwest

Ensuring Customer Continuity During Crisis

In 2020, a major fire broke out on the electrical grid infrastructure feeding Colt DCS’ Paris South West Data Centre. The fire severely damaged both upstream and downstream cabling around the utility substation supplying the site, causing a
widespread power outage.

With utility power unavailable, the risk to customer operations was significant, as customers required full-service continuity without any downtime or impact to their IT infrastructure.

In response, Colt DCS immediately switched to backup power to ensure seamless operational continuity. Proactive and transparent communication was maintained with customers throughout the incident, and additional resilience measures were deployed to protect all environments.

By putting customers first and reinforcing their confidence, this resulted in 100% service uptime, zero customer disruption, and continued trust in Colt DCS as a data centre partner built for business-critical operations.
