In today’s digital economy, data centres form the critical foundation for cloud computing, enterprise applications, and digital services.

As demand for capacity continues to accelerate, the ability to optimise workload performance and enhance operational efficiency has become more essential than ever for data centre customers.

This growing need is driven by rising operational costs, increased pressure to meet sustainability goals, and the complexity of managing IT environments. As a result, customers require greater visibility and control over how their workloads perform within a data centre.

Real-time telemetry data provides that visibility, enabling customers to monitor power usage, track temperature conditions, and optimise resource allocation. These insights enable smarter decision-making that drives performance, reduces costs, and supports peak operational efficiency.

Central Telemetry Platform

At Colt DCS, customers are able to use live and historic telemetry data to support the management of their data centre workloads by using our Central Telemetry Platform (CTP).

This globally available solution uses advanced technologies to capture comprehensive intelligence on the operational performance of data centre capacity. Through the platform, users can systematically identify, monitor, and evaluate data centre efficiencies to drive operational excellence.
Central Telemetry Platform

Key features of the CTP include:

  • Access to thousands of data points - from Colt DCS’ globally operated data centres, delivered in a standardised and easy-to-use format.

  • Real-time data via API - with updates every minute, customers can seamlessly integrate the platform’s API into existing systems, applications, or interfaces to build powerful tools and automate processes using the most current data available.

  • Digital interface - providing live and historical dashboards that visually simplify complex telemetry data.
The live dashboards enable customers to monitor real-time metrics such as temperature and humidity within their allocated halls or racks, as well as their own power usage. These insights provide immediate awareness, allowing for prompt actions to improve performance. The historical dashboards let customers analyse past data by exploring trends and patterns over time, offering deeper insights to plan for and optimise data centre workloads, leading to enhanced future outcomes.

  • Supporting sustainability goals – with insight into the energy consumption of compute infrastructure across data centres, customers can identify opportunities to optimise efficiency and reduce their environmental impact. This data can also be used to track performance against sustainability KPIs, providing added value to both local and centralised sustainability teams.

The CTP is currently connected to our London West, London North, and Paris South West data centres in Europe, as well as our Osaka Keihanna and Tokyo Inzai 2, 3, and 4 facilities in the Asia Pacific.
