Colt DCS celebrated the 51st National Safety Week

Earlier this month, our Mumbai data centre team celebrated the 51st National Safety Awareness Week in association with Turner & Townsend, Sterling and Wilson and Siemens Energy. Every year, National Safety Awareness Week is celebrated in India to recognise the importance of health & safety and to promote accident reduction and risk mitigation across the general public and within the workplace. 

This year’s celebrations took place over the  4th – 12th of March, and focused on the theme 'Nurture Young Minds, Develop Safety Culture'. Throughout the week, emphasis was placed on daily topical themes, where our Mumbai team conducting a number of associated awareness activities on our data centre site.

Day 1, Friday 4th March - Inauguration Event

The inauguration event started with a Safety Oath by all participants, flag hoisting and persuasive speech on the importance of safety.

Day 1, Friday 4th March -        Self Assessment

Activity focused on appropriate use of personal protective equipment, as well as personal health for all staff and workers.

Day 2, Monday 7th March - Activity Assessment

Initiatives focused on analysing the risk levels on the activities carried out and ensuring reduced injury.

Day 3, Tuesday 8th March - Facility Assessment.

Looking into the safety procedures laid out by the facility for the safe working such as permit to work and safety framework.

Day 4, Wednesday 9th March – Environmental Assessment

Activity focused on maintaining working conditions that is free from dust, noise and extreme weather conditions.

Day 5, Thursday 10th March – Basic Needs

An onsite campaign driving the message for basic working needs to include safety also along with food, shelter, and clothing.

Day 6, Friday 11th March – Closing Event and Recognition

A wrap up of the overall safety campaign, followed by a mass housekeeping exercise. Plus a closing ceremony with reward recognition for all staff efforts involved and to reward the winners of the competition, on safety slogan, drawing and Quiz.

Day 7, Saturday 12th March – Friendly Cricket Match

A cricket match consisting of 6 team members belonging to Colt DCS, Turner & Townsend, Sterling & Wilson, Siemens Projects team, Siemens Operations team, JSSL and DHIPL.

Health & Safety remains the number one priority for Colt DCS. By our Mumbai team participating in the 51st National Safety Awareness Week, this further demonstrates our commitment to promoting and celebrating the importance of health & safety for everyone involved on one of our worksites.
