Environment Sustainability

At Colt DCS we strive to be environmentally and socially responsible. That’s why at our Colt Mumbai Data Centre, we are using 100% renewable energy to power this recently launched facility with the aim to reduce our carbon footprint, and make sustainability a key strategic driver. 

In 2023, we were awarded a Platinum Rating pre-certification by the India Green Building Council (IGBC) for the Design of our Colt Mumbai Data Centre. IGBC is India's premier certification body for the greening of projects across residential, commercial and industrial segments. Its green rating system uses stringent criteria through a credit scoring classification that analyses sustainable practices and solutions, which determines how these reduce impact on the environment.

For data centres, the rating system addresses a number of different aspects including site selection and planning, innovation and design, building material and resources, quality of indoor environment, water conservation, energy efficiency, and operational maintenance.

By being awarded the Platinum Rating, this is the highest recognition in the rating system which considers our Colt Mumbai Data Centre to be the standard of global leadership status.

Further Commitment towards Sustainability in Mumbai

In addition, there are a number of other ‘green’ initiatives and targets that we are striving towards to support the practice of sustainability at our Colt Mumbai Data Centre:

  • Ensuring zero waste to landfill, making efforts to divert waste from landfill and incineration in a phased targeted manner and achieving an average of greater than 90% of diversion

  • Implementing energy saving measures as per the Energy Conservation Building Code issued by Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Govt. of India

  • To become Net Zero Carbon in line with the latest Science Based Targets Initiatives (SBTi)

  • Conserving water on site using PKDX technology and ensuring zero liquid discharge to eliminate wastewater levels

  • Establishing an Environmental Monitoring Plan (EMP) during the operational phase

  • Using star rated HVAC energy saving equipment

  • Installing LED lighting fixtures and solar cell-powered street lights

  • Planting trees and landscaping the campus environment

  • Exploring options to set up electrical vehicle charging facilities within the campus area

Outside of Mumbai, we have also achieved an “A-” score for our 2023 CDP climate submission, and also a Platinum Rating with EcoVadis in 2023, which places us in the top 1% of global companies assessed.
